Recorded in Nashville, TN in January, 2024, "Bill's Due" is the first recording of the GPS Trio. Named for the three members, Grant Osborne - Piano and Chromatic Harmonica, Paul Hannah - Drums, and Sam Kurzontkowski - Acoustic Bass and Vocals, the GPS Trio chose the music of Bill Evans for the debut album. Evans' groups and music have long set the standard for Piano Trios and what better way to showcase and pay tribute?
I first played with Grant in Durham, NC and have loved his playing since the first time we played. Sam and I had been touring together on the "Funny Girl" tour and got together with Grant when the tour played NC. The trio played so very well together that the plan for recording was hatched and implemented.
We hope you enjoy the powerful music made by the three of us offered up as a tribute to one of the finest jazz pianists ever. It's "BIll's Due"!
