Experience the innovative soundscapes of the Scott Sherwood Trio with their latest album, 'Vectors'. Dive into the rich sounds crafted by Scott Sherwood, Mike Nunno, and Paul Hannah, each bringing their unique musical prowess to create a harmonious blend of rhythm and melody.

Vectors is a tribute to the musical genius of guitarist and composer Scott Sherwood. This album was the final studio recording made by the band before they took what was intended to be a brief sabbatical. The intended-to-be-brief interval grew and grew until a reunion was made impossible by the passing of Scott in 2009.

Recorded in a CT studio in 2002, the master audio files have been lovingly restored, curated and brought to you by Jennifer Sherwood and H-Man Studios.

Liner notes from Jennifer:

Scott was a perfectionist. He crafted his sound with meticulous care. The downside was that the recording process was difficult for him. In a recording he could hear every nuance and (to his ear) imperfection.

After the Connecticut recording session with Paul and Mike, Scott struggled. Not because of the playing or the band but because the recording wasn’t the quality of sound he wanted to present to a listener. So the recording lingered on, unreleased.

When Paul brought up the possibility of releasing the recording I was paralyzed for a while. Would Scott have approved? How would he feel now?

But after conversations with Paul we agreed that technology had advanced and the issues that had frustrated Scott could be fixed. These are tunes I love and it had made me sad at the time that Scott hadn’t shared them.

So here they are. And once again, thanks to Paul and Mike, I hear my husband’s voice loud and clear.

Liner notes from drummer Paul Hannah:

This album is the final recording we did as a band in June of 2002. By that time, we had been playing together for over six years, made two recordings, performed countless gigs and performances, and grown tremendously as a band and as individuals.

Unfortunately, there had been tension developing in the band regarding the path forward and some strong disagreements about how to proceed. Scott and I butted heads with Mike often playing peacemaker. I had strong opinions, as did Scott and it was challenging as I SO loved the band and could see the opportunities I felt were within our reach. I had decided to move out of the Northeast, Mike was getting married and about to become a father, and Scott was chafing under my strong opinions. I figured we all go our separate ways for a while, and eventually get back together. This band always felt to me as if it was one person playing the three instruments simultaneously - we were that connected musically.

Alas, my plan failed spectacularly. The three of us played together a few times between 2004-05. We’d planned to play in 2007 but got snowed out. Then tragedy showed up; Scott fell very ill and passed away in 2009. I was heartbroken and spent years running from my grief and loss.

Scott was an amazing musician, composer and terrific human being. I still miss him and always will.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I reconnected with Scott’s widow, Jennifer and we worked together on our grief. Part of the healing was in our plans to release archived recordings of the trio. The “Headin’ Home - Live at the University of Rhode Island” went live in 2020 and now we proudly present “Vectors” - the final studio recording of the Scott Sherwood Trio. Enjoy the music - the band never played better!
